So what's the conference all about?
In order to phase out fossil fuels, we must first commit to 100% renewable energy and then develop a plan to reach this goal. The plan must address transportation, electricity, buildings, waste, and industry. To achieve 100% renewable energy in our communities we need everyone. We need a collaborative process that provides the opportunity to get together, listen, learn find solutions as a community. EcoSociety’s energy conference will create the space for you to connect and be part of the renewable energy solution.
The West Kootenay EcoSociety is inviting the public and key stakeholders to discuss renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy conservation in our region and determine how to move forward with the transition from fossil fuels to 100% renewable energy by 2050.
Thursday, September 7 – An evening with Vancouver City Councillor and Deputy Mayor, Andrea Reimer. Vancouver has already committed to 100% renewable energy. Learn about why they were the first city in Canada to pledge to transition to 100% renewable energy and how this happened.
Friday, September 8 - Key stakeholders day. Invited key stakeholders will determine how to move forward with the transition from fossil fuels to 100% renewable energy by 2050 in the West Kootenays.
Saturday, September 9 - A collaborative public forum. Exhibits and workshops will be given by local businesses and organizations working to transition the community off of fossil fuels and onto energy efficiency and renewable energy. Presentations will be gven by renewbale energy leaders.
